Trekking Grade. |
|
Involves trekking for up to five to six hours a day at a
slow but steady pace. This trek does not spend time at
altitudes above 4000 m and are usually a week in a
duration. Gentle terrain, without steep climbs or
vertiginous mountains. These trips can be enjoyed by
anyone who leads a reasonably active life.
GRADE: Moderate **
Rolling uplands, five to six hours a day walking,
involves trekking to altitudes of about 3,000m/10,000ft
or less with
some uphill climbs and the odd longer day involve some
longer walks. Some previous hill-walking experience is
desirable.
GRADE : Challenging ***
The day stages on these treks are mostly moderate,
although some of the days are, unaviodably, slightly
longer.trekking to altitudes between 2,000m/6,500ft and
3,500m/11,500ft , Six to eight hours walking with longer ascents
and the scramble on an exposed ridge and rough
conditions under foot on occasion.
GRADE: Ultimate Challenging ****
These treks are generally longer and more strenuous with
long ascents & descents, steep gradients, rough ground,
some backpacking. Hill walking experience and a
reasonably high standard of fitness and stamina are
essential for enjoyment. Involve up to 8 hours walking a
day. trekking to altitudes of 3,000m/10,000ft to
4,000m/13,000ft for up to 8 hrs/25km per day, sometimes
including excursions or pass crossings up to
5,000m/16,500ft.
GRADE: TOUGH *****
You need to be very fit for these tours, be familiar
with mountain walking, be capable of carrying a
backpack, and possess a fair degree of stamina. We
include treks which involve river, moraine, glacier and
snow crossing in this category. trekking to altitudes
predominantly above 4,000m/13,000ft with excursions and
pass crossings of between 5,000m/16,500ft and
6,000m/19,200ft. Pre-trek training is essential.
GRADE: VERY TOUGH ******
A high level of fitness and experience of walking on
scree, snow, ice and packed snow is required. High level
of fitness and experience walking on scree, snow, ice
and packed snow. There will be ice axes, crampons, and
in some cases, ropes used. Climbs however are
non-technical. The altitude would be predominantly above
4,000m/13,000ft with quite a few nights above
5,000m/16,000ft..
