There are
several laternative trails to enter too beautiful and
friendly Everest region. One of them is to fly to Lukla
(2,866m). Lukla to Everest Base Camp Trekking requires 15 days to complete. From Lukla, the trail climbs gradually up the steep-sided
Dudhkoshi valley, weaving from side to side as it passes
through forests of blue pine, juniper, fir,
rhododendron, birch and oak passing many gompas, the
trail crosses a high sturdy bridge at the confluence of
the Dudhkoshi river and bhote Kosh river to reach Namche
Bazar (3446m). On the way, the first glimpse of Everest
and Lhotse (8501m) are revealed Namche Bazar with its
two-and –three storey houses sits in a u-shaped
west-facing valley with the sacred mountains Khumbila
(5,761) to the North, Thamserku(6608) to the east and
Kwangde Ri(6187) to the west.
Lukla to Everst base camp trek from the busy Namche leads you into the
traditional village of Khumjung where you will visit
local sherpas and the ancient chorten. The next stop
being Tengboche, famcous for Nepal’s largest monastery,
you will visit one of the Khumbu’s most important and
beautiful cultural centre. The view of Ama Dablam
(6856m), Everest, Nuptse(7879m) and Lhotse (8501m) to
the North are worth while. Then the climb to Pangboche,
site of Khumbu’s oldest gompa where the yeti scalp and
hand relic are displayed, passes by skillfully etched
mani stones and the scattered tree lines. Further on you
will climb into alpine meadows cross rivers and
uncommercialized settlements of Dingboche and Chhukung
(4753m). Still up Lobuche is set at the edge of the
Khumbu Glacier, and staging ground for higher as cend to
Kalpathar (5550m) and the everest base camp (5364m). You
can well carry on the options-kalpathar can be reached
1-2 hours via Gorak shep which is 2-4 hrs hike from
Lobuche. The views of everest is stunning from
kalapathar, but to disappointment, the everest view is
impossible from the base camp. .
Interesting and justifiably famous, not only for its
proximity to the world's highest mountain, but also for
its Sherpa villages and monasteries, the Everest, or
Solu Khumbu area is the second most popular trekking
destination in Nepal. The primary objective of Everest
treks is either the Everest base camp, about 5.340
meters, or Kala Pattar, an unassuming 5.545 meter hump
on the southern flank of Pumori (7,161 meters), which
provides a fine view of Everest (8.848 meters).
