Few people trek around the Kathmandu valley. Yet it offers a rich insight into the lives, history, culture and religion, together with the daily toil in the fields of its inhabitants. The valley rim lies around 1000/2800 m and in the spring offers early flowering rhododendrons and through the autumn and winter, wonderful mountain vistas which can, from certain view-points, stretch from Everest in the east to Annapurna in the west. Shivapuri trek offers panoramic views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Jugal. This trek is a very popular short trek for those people who don’t have much time in Nepal. Shivapuri trekking offers fine scenery from pine forests to lush tropical jungle and rhododendron forests. It passes by Nagarkot which is known as one of the best places in the valley to get inspiring sunset and sunrise mountain views. It also gives the trekker a chance to experience the local culture and rural way of life. Along the way this trail passes some of the oldest temples and buildings in Nepal, thus creating an all-round trek to the best out of a short stay in Nepal. The Major Places are to see:

Shivapuri Nationa Park:
Shivapuri National Park [159 sq km] is situated on the northern fringe of Kathmandu valley and lies about 12 km away from the center of capital city. The area was gazetted as the country's ninth national park in 2002. Prior its declaration as national park, it was managed under the Shivapuri Watershed Development Board, and was later declared as Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve.

Shivapuri Village:
Shivapuri Village was established encompassing an existing village and many of the structures are genuine Nepali house where villagers previously dwelt. As the name suggests, it has a typical Nepali village setting and all the peripherals too reflect the hues of Nepali village lifestyle. It is a delicate integration between the rural village and modern comforts. On the Shivapuri Village you can do a various activities to keep oneself busy during the stay be it in the form of Nature Treks and Hikes, Ethnic Village Tours, Bird Watching, Photography or just a simple relaxing leisure.

Shivapuri Flora and Fauna:
Shivapuri lies in a transition zone between subtropical and temperate climates. The vegetation consists of a variety of natural forest types including pine, oak, rhododendron etc, depending on altitude and aspect. Recorded wildlife in the park includes mammalian species such as Himalayan Black bear, leopard, jungle cat, and rhesus monkey. The park is also home to 177 species of birds, including at least 9 threatened species, 102 species of butterflies with a number of rare and endangered species, and 129 species of mushroom.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
Your arrival to Airport, you will be met by our Airport representatives and transferred to Hotel, B.B. O/N at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu City Tour
Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley with guided tour to Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Temple, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Return back to Hotel, B.B. O/N at Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Shivapuri
After having breakfast you drive to Budhanilakantha (30min) and from there you trek to Shivapuri where you can start observing the beautiful scenery of your surroundings. The trail forwards having spectacular views of mountains like Annapurna, Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Jugal Himal and reaches Shivapuri. O/N at Shivapuri.

Day 4: Shivapuri to Chisopani (2134m)
From Shivapuri you trek to Chisopani. The trail goes along the ridge between the Shivapuri watershed and the fine green forest. After walking further you reach Chisopani. O/N at Chisopani.

Day 5: Chisopani to Nagarkot (2175m)
From Chisopani you trek through the lush forests and out into rural hillside farming land. The trail meets a main route and climbs up to Nagarkot early in the morning. In Nagarkot you will spend sunrise and sunset. At these times, Nagarkot is one of the best look out points in the Kathmandu valley. From here you can see splendid views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Everest. It is one of the most popular places for viewing the mountains. O/N at Nagarkot.

Day 6: Nagarkot to Kathmandu
From Nagarkot you trek down to Changu Narayan. Changu Narayan is the oldest temple in the valley and is listed as a world cultural heritage site. Trek to Bhaktapur where you can spend some time looking around Bhaktapur Durbar Square. From Bhaktapur drive back to Kathmandu (1 hour). Hotel B.B. O/N at Kathmandu.

Day 7: Transfer to Airport for your onward destination.
