This low altitude trek through the Langtang Valley, is near the Tibetan border. At a maximum altitude of 3,900m, magnificent views of glaciers and the Himalaya, this beautiful region of Langtang presents very good value with excellent lodge accommodation and food, also the lower altitude allows us to trek in Nepal's Winter, so less crowded. Despite being relatively close to Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley remains unaffected by the pressures of the overwhelming numbers that trek the Annapurna and Everest routes. The forests are filled with life. Langur monkeys and bright parakeets can be seen in the trees, and the dense stands of oak and rhododendron give way to alpine meadows and grazing yak as you reach higher altitudes. At the highest points are glaciers and snowy peaks that rise as high as 24,000 feet. The Tamang peoples who inhabit the valley continue to practice their local variety of Buddhism and to earn their livelihoods herding sheep and yak.

After visiting the Kathmandu valley we'll leave the sounds of that bustling medieval city behind, and drive north, following the Trisuli River to Syabrubensi, where we camp by the river. In the morning we follow the narrow Langtang Khola River, passing through dense forests of oak, birch and pine before the valley opens out into alpine meadows and yak pastures. These forests (some of the finest in Nepal), are alive with birds and animals: you’ll catch monkeys and parakeets playing among rare tree orchids and colorful rhododendrons, Nepal's national flower. The high alpine meadows have a rich variety of alpine flowers: gentians, violets, edelweiss and primulas to name just a few. Promote Nepal as a desirable tourist destination. We pass through Langtang village, unchanged for hundreds of years, and continue up the valley through a superb landscape dominated by spectacular peaks and breathtaking viewpoints. We find ourselves surrounded by snowy peaks and glaciers with almost unlimited opportunities for exploring, especially around the Langtang glacier up near the Tibet border.

There are two routes out of the Langtang valley. The easiest and most used is via the high alpine lakes of Gosainkund. The other is over a remote high alpine pass called the Ganja La, situated at the head of the Langtang valley close to the Tibetan border. This is a tricky route and involves crossing some snow and a small glacier, with some mild rock scrambling. If the conditions are good, this will be an inspiring challenge. In the unlikely event that the Ganja La Pass proves to be unsafe or too difficult due to weather or other factors, we will take the Gosainkund Lakes route. By crossing the Ganja La pass and descending into the Sherpa region of Helambu, we will be completing our adventure with an interesting and challenging trek through a wildly remote region before returning to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu

Day 02: Kathmandu City Tour
After having breakfast you take a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You will visit many Buddhist and Hindu temples which reflect the local culture and tradition of Nepalese society. In the afternoon you will be taken back to your Hotel. O/N at Kathmandu. Hotel, B.B.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1462m)
You are driven to Sybru Bensi from Kathmandu (8 hours drive) . O/N in Sybru Bensi.

Day 04: Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2470m)
After crossing the suspension bridge the trek proceeds through the trees where langur monkey’s frolic and takes you to Doman (1680m). The trail then makes a steep climb over a rocky ridge to Paira Lodge (1810m) and further the route climbs gently to Bamboo Lodge (1960m). Climbing steeply the trail will get to Rimche (2400m) and then to Lama Hotel. O/N in Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m)
From Lama Hotel the trail climbs through a forest of hemlock, oaks, maples and rhododendron observing glimpses of Langtang Lirung, reaches to Gumanchok (2800m) and then climbs to Ghora Tabela (2970m) after which it descends to Thangshyap (3140m). The trail further climbs to Langtang, which is the head quarter for Langtang National Park. O/N in Langtang Valley.

Day 06: Explore the Langtang Valley
Hire a horse for sight seeing in Langtang Valley. You can hike up the moraine north of Kyanjin Gompa (4300m). From here you have spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Kinshung, Yansa Tsenji (6575m) and the foot of the huge Lirung glacier. You are so close it feels like you can touch them. Back to Langtang. Day 07: Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m)
From Langtang Valley the trail climbs gradually to Sindum and to Yamphu (3640m). Crossing the Laja Khola then climbs a moraine to a viewpoint where you can see Kyanjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and Kinshung. Then the trail descends to Kyanjin Gompa. O/N in Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel
Trek back to Lama Hotel. O/N in Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabru Bensi
Trek back to Sybru Bensi. O/N in Sybru Bensi.

Day 10: Syabru Bensi to Kathmandu
Driven back to Kathmandu.8 hours drive. O/N at Kathmandu. Hotel, B.B.

Day 11: Transfer to Airport for your onward journey.
