Kathmandu valley (Central Nepal) offers the most praised modes of adventure holiday trips. Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal well known to the world as the city of Living Goddess ( Kumari) who is worshipped and taken in a chariot procession annually.

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal is also its only international air gateway and major travel center. Tourism is the most important industry that sustains not only Nepal but Kathmandu also. In this regard, one can say that Kathmandu is a tourist friendly travel destination. Kathmandu is not big when one compares it to other cities in South Asia. Kathmandu is a fascinating old city today where pagodas, narrow cobbled lanes, old carved windows, and stone shrines are backdrops to the drama of life that continues unhindered. Here the experiences are amazing, views fascinating, and the climate charming.

Call it magic, call it enchantment, call it a trick of the light, sleight of hand, a celestial conjuror's trick, call it what you will but there is a real Kathmandu and a real Nepal hidden behind the well-trodden snapshot country that is gift wrapped by an anonymous machine and handed out a half-day sightseeing at a time. The hidden Nepal and the secret Kathmandu still await discovery. And they are ours. Here is a country agog with palace squares, towering temples, and with memories of wild dreams. There are cobbled stone streets that wind through ancient bazaars and lead to a sanctified place where a hundred priests on flying white horses once alighted. There are Buddhistst Stupas around which psychics and fourtune tellers abound. There are dawn and dusk places where witch doctors exorcize spirits and remedy all.

There are living Goddesses whose smiles are a benediction. There are reincarnate Lamas who forsee the future with a roll of dice and scriptural reference. There are walks that lead the adventurous to legendary places where ogres once lived, where Goddesses danced, and where Gods were held ransom by tantric yogis.

There are hidden gardens behind palaces yet unseen and courtyards where miracles happen, and a city the Buddha visited. There are hillocks where a patron saint of Sikhism lived, and where a pagoda roof was invented. There are courtyards with intricate carvings of stone and there are midnight masked dancers who are possessed by the Gods.

Lumbini - The birthplace of Lord Buddha.
Lumbini is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Lumbini is located in Central Nepal very close to the border of Indian State of Utter Pradesh. The birthplace of Sidhartha Gautam Buddha is pilgrimage site for Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike. It is a small unknown town before the discovery of the birthplace of Buddha; it was marked by Ashok Pillar which was built in 250 BC by an Indian emperor Ashok in the height of his power. Beside the Ashok Pillar there is a temple of Maya Devi, mother of Gautam Buddha, and the sacred pool, known as Puskarni, where Maya Devi gave purification bath to Gautam Buddha. The focal point of Lumbini is the sanctum sanctorum where a stone slab is located which marks exact birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Places to visit include restored garden and surrounding areas with many ancient monuments, monasteries and stupas. The other important archeological site in Lumbini is Kapilvastu, located about 27 km west of Lumbini. Sidhartha Gautam Buddha spent his early years of childhood in Kapilvastu. Archaeologist has discovered that the foundation of the palace scattered in the area has 13 successive layers of human habitation dating back to 8th century BC. Other historical places associated with the life of Gautam Buddha are Aroarakot (about 10km west), Chatradei (about 5km north), and to the southwest Gotihawa (about 5km) and Kudan (about 2km) from Taulihawa. Niglihawa and Sagarhawa are other near by sites that are archeologically important. Surrounding villages and weekly market full of local merchandise and people provides interesting sightseeing tour beside the birthplace of Buddha. Bodhgaya, the place where Sidhartha Gautam Buddha attained the knowledge of Nirvana - eternal peace, is in Bihar; it is very close to Lumbini.

The road from Kathmandu to Lumbini is 285 km and from Pokhara it is 200 km. The road from Kathmandu joins East-West highway (Mahendra Highway) at Naryanghat and continues to the west to Butwal, and Bhairawa. Lumbini is about 16 km west of Bhairawa. Chitwan is about 3-hour drive. The circuit is done in anti clockwise direction.

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you are welcomed by the hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to your hotel. Our guide will explain briefly the program upon arrival at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu
It's an experience not to be missed - wake up in the early morning to witness the beautiful sunrise outlook from the resort before breakfast serving. The next, we head for Kathmandu and keep half day valley sightseeings with Kathmandu Durbar Square, the place of the Malla and then the Shah Kings of Nepal, visiting Kumari Temple, house of the virgin goddess, visiting Swoyambhunath, a stupa on the top of hill - from here you can overlook the scenery of Kathmandu Valley. We then visit Patan, a famous city features of arts and crafts - the highlight of trip is the Shikara (Krishna Temple), Patan Durbar with Royal bath, Hiranya Varna Mahavir (Buddhist Monastery)

Day 3: Kathmandu - Lumbini
After breakfast, we travel overland from Kathmandu to the Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, where has been revered as the place of holy pilgrimage. Lumbini has been included as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO - if the time permits, we take you to visit Manakamana Temple, believed as the wish fulfilling goddess by cable car.

Upon arrival Lumbini, we transfer you to the hotel, check-in and then we go walking through the Sacred Lumbini Garden where the Buddha was born converges on the Ashoka pillar, visit the Maya Devi Temple with its bas-relief sculpture depicting Maya Devi holding on with her right hand to a branch of pipal tree and giving birth to the infant Buddha who stand up on a lotus pedestal.

Day 4: Lumbini
After breakfast, we begin the trip by driving away, 27km west of Lumbini; visit the important archaeological site, Tilaurkot, the ancient palace of King Suddodha (Siddhartha Gautam's father), where the Buddha spent his formative years as a Shakya Prince. Allow yourself for a moment to wander around and soak the atmosphere. There's a museum nearby, The Kapilvastu Museum; the pottery, jewelry and ornaments are gathered in-house. End up the remarkable tour in Tilaurkot by visiting the shrines, monasteries and stupa near the sacred garden.

Day 5: Lumbini - Kathmandu
After breakfast, we leave Lumbini by road and back to Kathmandu. Check-in at hotel, rest of the day is at your own leisure.

Day 6: Depart Kathmandu
After breakfast, rest of day is at leisure until we pick you up at the hotel and then transfer to airport for your next stop.
