Kathmandu, the
capital of Nepal is also its only international
air gateway and major travel center. Tourism is
the most important industry that sustains not
only Nepal but Kathmandu also. In this regard,
one can say that Kathmandu is a tourist friendly
travel destination. Kathmandu is not big when
one compares it to other cities in South Asia.
Kathmandu is a fascinating old city today where
pagodas, narrow cobbled lanes, old carved
windows, and stone shrines are backdrops to the
drama of life that continues unhindered. Here
the experiences are amazing, views fascinating,
and the climate charming.
Call it magic, call it enchantment, call it a
trick of the light, sleight of hand, a celestial
conjuror's trick, call it what you will but
there is a real Kathmandu and a real Nepal
hidden behind the well-trodden snapshot country
that is gift wrapped by an anonymous machine and
handed out a half-day sightseeing at a time. The
hidden Nepal and the secret Kathmandu still
await discovery. And they are ours. Here is a
country agog with palace squares, towering
temples, and with memories of wild dreams. There
are cobbled stone streets that wind through
ancient bazaars and lead to a sanctified place
where a hundred priests on flying white horses
once alighted. There are Buddhistst Stupas
around which psychics and fourtune tellers
abound. There are dawn and dusk places where
witch doctors exorcize spirits and remedy all
ills.
There are living Goddesses whose smiles are a
benediction. There are reincarnate Lamas who
forsee the future with a roll of dice and
scriptural reference. There are walks that lead
the adventurous to legendary places where ogres
once lived, where Goddesses danced, and where
Gods were held ransom by tantric yogis.
There are hidden gardens behind palaces yet
unseen and courtyards where miracles happen, and
a city the Buddha visited. There are hillocks
where a patron saint of Sikhism lived, and where
a pagoda roof was invented. There are courtyards
with intricate carvings of stone and there are
midnight masked dancers who are possessed by the
Gods.
Chitwan.
A visit to Nepal remains incomplete without
seeing the beauty of the Terai. One of the most
traditional and conservative indigenous
nationalities of Nepal, the Chepangs live in
Chitwan. They have their own distinct language,
which belongs to one of the Tibeto-Burman
strains. Chepangs are mostly hunters and
gatherers. They are animists and their clan
priests are called Pandes. It is felt that their
religion and culture are influenced by the
Tamangs. One of Asia’s finest national parks,
renowned for its dense concentration of
wildlife. Seas of elephant grass ripple beneath
a magnificent sunset & pervasive sense of
relaxation soaks in deeper the longer you stay.
For a country known for its beautiful mountains,
the Gangetic flat lands of the Terai that
stretches through out the southern part of Nepal
provide a whole different experience.
Chitwan is only 150m above the sea level. The
place gets steamy from March-June, with peak
temperatures reaching 43°C in the shade. Short
grass makes Feb-May the best game-viewing
season, but the autumn months are gorgeous, with
Himalayan views,and in winter
(December-January), Chitwan is pleasantly warm
compared to Kathmandu. The monsoon season
(July-August) is intense, with pounding rain,
swollen rivers, and vegetation. While the rain
is not constant, the humidity is all pervasive.
Pokhara:
Pokhara at an elevation of 900 mts & 200kms west
of Kathmandu, is the largest valley in Nepal. A
scenic mountain side drive approximate 5/6 hours
or a half hour picturesque flight will get you
to This valley. Famous for its lakes and views
of the magnificent Himalayan Peaks, this visit
is recommended for those who would really like
to break away as they go boating in the calm and
serene waters of the Phewa Lake, or take day
hikes in nearby hills and if time permits short
treks into the Himalaya.
Pokhara is an extraordinary landscape and one of
the most attractive destinations in Nepal. The
treasures of Pokhara include the tranquility of
Phewa Lake, spectacular views of Annapurna
Himalayan range and Mount Machhapuchhare (6,977
m), luscious green hills, terraced farm slopes,
countless species of vegetation, rushing rivers
in a tropical-like environment. Pokhara is,
since ancient times, the traditional export
center for trade with India and Tibet. Merchants
from remote Himalayan regions of Nepal, such as
Muktinath and Mustang still come here with mule
trains. The Gurungs and Magars are the
aboriginal inhabitants and remain the majority
in the hill regions. But the urban population is
now made up of diverse ethnic groups seeking
employment opportunities. The Gurungs and Magars
have reputation as hardworking farmers and
valorous warriors who have earned worldwide fame
as Gurkha soldiers.
This calm city of Pokhara serves as a base camp
for trekking and rafting trips through the
regions of Annapurna and Western Nepal. Baidam
on the southeastern end of Phewa Lake and is
dominated by restaurants, bars, hotels and
shops, is the gathering place for travelers in
the western regions of Nepal. The island temple
of Barahi is accessible from baidam by dug out
canoes. This two-storied pagoda is dedicated to
the Hindu goddess Ajima. On Saturdays, devotees
paddle across the lake carrying live animals for
sacrifice. Bindhyabasini Mandir is a local Hindu
temple on the northeast of Phewa Lake in the
vicinity of the Old Bazaar. It is dedicated to
Goddess Bhagwati. Devotees perform animal
sacrifices and have picnics in the courtyard on
Saturdays. The Old Bazaar area is still the
commercial hub of merchants from the remote
Himalayas while Phewa Lake site is a pleasure
spot for holiday maker from around the world!

Day 01: Arrival
transfers to hotel by private vehicle. Check
into hotel with welcome drink. Rest of the day
is free for individual activities and shopping.

stay at hotel.
Day 02: Full day Kathmandu valley sightseeing by
private vehicle (vehicle depend as per the group
size) including: Pashupatinath Temple /
Bouddhanath Stupa / Buddhanilkantha (Sleeping
Vishnu)/ Swayambhunath Stupa / Patan Durbar
Square & Bhaktapur Durbar square. Over night
stay at hotel.
Day 03: Departure to Royal Chitwan National Park
by same vehicle. Check into hotel with welcome
drink. After Lunch visit elephant breeding
Center. Over night stay at hotel.
Day 04: Full day Jungle activities including:
Canoeing on the
Budhi Rapti River to See Crocodile / Elephant
Safari / Jungle walk / Bird watching & Tharu
(ethnic) culture dance. Over night stay at
hotel.
Day 05: Departure to Pokhara by same private
vehicle. Check into hotel with welcome drink.
Late after noon Boating on Fewa lake. Over night
stay at Hotel.
Day 06: After breakfast proceed to Pokhara
valley sightseeing by private vehicle including:
Devi’s fall / Gupteshwar cave / Vindhyabashini
temple / White river (Seti Gorge) / Regional
Museum and departure to Kathmandu by same
private vehicle. Check in to hotel. Over night
stay at hotel.
Day 07: Departure transfers to Airport.
