Welcome on behalf of the Koru Mountains Trekking and Expeditions NZ/Nepal team. Koru Mountains founders brothers Phurenje and Ang Kaji Sherpa offer a range of hassle free personalized trekking expeditions, sightseeing and organised volunteer work based in the Solukhumbu Valley, Nepal.

They have a large extended family that live along the famous trail that Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay and many famous adventurers have once walked.

Phurenje and Ang Kaji both now live in the South Island of New Zealand and have many years of experience guiding around the world. They both have completed multiple accents of Mt Everest and other high Himalayan mountains.

  • You do not have to be a climber or mountaineer to go trekking. We cater for all group sizes, skills and ability so your personal goals and challengers can be reached.
  • All permits, domestic flights, guides, porters, transfers meals and accommodation are pre organized prior to your arrival.

Come and join the Koru Mountains team and experience a trip of a life time. Phurenje and Ang Kaji’s local village Khari Khola is the base for organised volunteer work. Teaching English at the local school and building work is some of the help that is required. The trek will be fully serviced by local family porters and guides.

Trekking in the Solukhumbu Valley is one of the most picturesque scenery’s in the world. You will be staying with friendly Sherpa families, visiting ancient monasteries and experiencing their wonderful local and healthy cuisine and culture. We have multiple achievable options available which may include the popular Everest base camp trek and climb of trekking peak Kala Patthar (5550m). Kala Patthar offers dramatic views of the giant Himalaya Mountains. Also included is a number of acclimatization and rest days to make the trip totally enjoyable and achievable
